My Family, we may not be intellectuals, we might not have crossed 80 in our matriculation exams (except kirti-83 or 86 or something), may be, we have least things to be proud of, there is one thing we all like to tell about ourselves. We all are food-lovers. We eat a lot. We eat different things. Also, we cook and we eat. We believe that we must have different casts, regions and religions for their verity of eating habits. We all want to earn a lot and wish to do one thing- try different food from different restaurants (around the world??). We drive to Kolhapur (around 230 Km), eat Fadtare misal and come back and AnandDada’s site-visit is namesake (10 mins max!!).
4 days ago, Mavashi, Kaka and Asha Kaku visited Allahabad. They were on their “Kashi Prayag Yatra”. While their stay at Prayag, I went to meet them to their hotel. And there was a great surprise for me. They had one hand bag, full of food from Pune!! My liking for food is well known in my family (famous by name Kumbhakarn, who eats and sleeps and does nothing). Kaka, a food-fan himself, handed over the bag to me, as soon as I reached them. I opened it with devil’s joy on my face. What a delight was that!!! The bag contained Chakali which mavashi prepared specially for me (and Ira). These are world’s best, and even Aai accepts that. There was a box full of Amba Burfi and Kaju Katali from “Kaka Halwai”, sent by Dhanashree’s mom to me. Aai didn’t fail to send a kg of “BakarWadi” and “Lasoon Bakarwadi” along. Kaku had brought Kadboli. Someone prepared Chiwada as well. A box contained “Dinkache Laadu” (something healthy). I opened bag of “Upawasacha chivada” there itself.
Kaka ordered tea. While sipping tea and eating upasacha chivada, we discussed about Chhola Mathari and Bun Malai (our 4 AM nashta here). They were really unhappy about food-culture of Allahabad. (Except kaka liked the idea of ChholaMathari and promised we will try it out on my trip to Pune). He seemed more excited than me about me moving to Delhi for job, as Dhanashree has already hyped about Delhi khana-khajana, especially about paratha-galli. I guess she visited hotels more often than her classes in IIT-D. Viththal Kamat’s bestseller- “Idli, Orchid ani Me” was another topic of discussion. I must read second one by Viththal Kamat(Me Udyojak Honarach), he said.
For some time, we also diverted our discussion to useless topics like my studies and joining, kirti’s exam, their journey; but very soon, we were back on track.
I left with a couple of “Desi ghee me bane hue motichoor ke laddu”, which I took for them from “Kamadhenu”, in my mouth.
P.S.: I guess D got 98.something in 12th PCM. Don’t know her aggregate and 10th. Don’t know Anant’s marks at all. Truth is, “jasta asale tari doghanchyahi cheheryavarun vaatat nahi :)”.
Also, though I don't like to share food, I am doing it because I am getting fat and should eat less, according to my well wishers here :).
